Team Lead Project Manager (DC Line Stations)

Taylor Hopkinson are mandated to recruit a Team Lead focused on DC Line Stations to join the senior engineering team working directly with the client to deliver a major cross border interconnector project in Germany.

Leading a project team, you will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the power converter, the substation, and the cable section and cable monitoring stations and will ensure that one of Germany’s largest infrastructure projects is kept on track from the initial planning to commissioning.

As part of the management team of the interconnector program, your task will be to build out a team and work with decision-makers within the department to lead the project to success.

This is a full time, staff role based in Germany. Due to the nature of this role, German language and knowledge of German HVDC Engineering terminology is required.

Role:

  • Development and management of the stations project within the programme.
  • Independent development, management and control of the project team, service providers and internal and external project participants for the design, planning, production, construction, assembly and commissioning of the DC onshore stations.
  • Provide monitoring, assistance and support across the approval process in the context of the NABEG and BImschG.
  • Development of strategy and strategy implementation for eventual project award, planning, logistics, quality assurance, assembly and commissioning of the stations.
  • Management of the preparation of associated tender and contract documents as well as participation/management of the responsible packages in the awarding process.
  • Communicating and safeguarding the project interests towards internal and external stakeholders, in particular representing the project at public events and to authorities.
  • Definition of project management requirements, active management of the project to achieve the program and project objectives (especially HSE, time, quality, costs) and further development of internal project management standards.
  • Professional and disciplinary leadership across all team members.

Requirements:

  • Completed studies in an engineering field, such as electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or comparable subjects.
  • Detailed experience in the implementation of projects for the planning and implementation of onshore HVDC infrastructure projects (preferably in electrical plant construction).
  • Experience dealing with specialist authorities for approval procedures.
  • Project management experience, knowledge of project management methods and experience in the technical and disciplinary management of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient use of standard PC software, especially MS Office.
  • Confident German (C1) and English (B2) language skills (C1) both written and spoken.
