Sub Project Lead – HVDC Multiterminal Hub
Taylor Hopkinson is mandated to recruit a Sub Project Lead - HVDC Multiterminal Hub to join a team of three German TSOs (TenneT TSO GmbH, 50Hertz and TransnetBW). This role involves designing and overseeing the multi-terminal hub from planning to commissioning, contributing to a major initiative in the energy transition. For the first time, these TSOs will integrate central direct current hubs, establishing a future-proof direct current grid.
As the Sub Project Lead – HVDC Multiterminal Hub, you will coordinate the sub-project, ensuring compliance with technical standards, contracts, and project management guidelines. You will facilitate collaboration among your team, internal and external stakeholders, and contractual partners, enhancing your skills in managing complex projects and technical team management.
This is a full-time staff position based in North Germany, requiring proficiency in German and knowledge of German HVDC engineering terminology.
Responsibilities:
- Together with your engineering team, you will develop, manage, and oversee the sub-project team, along with its service providers and both internal and external project participants, focusing on the design, planning, production, construction, installation, and commissioning of the power converter.
- You will play a key role in supporting and contributing to the approval process in line with NABEG and BImschG regulations.
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies for awarding contracts, planning, logistics, quality assurance, installation, and commissioning of the power converter.
- Additionally, you’ll be responsible for preparing related tender and contract documents and managing the relevant packages during the award process.
- Your role will involve effectively communicating and representing the project’s interests to both internal and external stakeholders, particularly at public events and in interactions with authorities.
- You will actively manage the sub-project to meet its objectives, focusing on health, safety, and environmental standards (HSE), timelines, quality, and cost management, while also further refining internal project management standards.
Profile:
- A degree in engineering, such as electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in executing large-scale projects related to the planning and realization of onshore infrastructure projects, preferably in electrical plant construction.
- Experience in dealing with specialist authorities for approval procedures
- Proficient in project management, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies and experience in technically leading interdisciplinary teams. Certification in project management (nice to have)
- Excellent German language skills (C1) and English language skills (preferably B2).
