Overview:
The Legal Counsel will offer in-house legal expertise to safeguard the company’s business interests while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role supports the company’s renewable energy projects in Japan and North Asia, addressing legal issues across various activities, including project development, construction, and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver legal advice on business operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel on complex matters.
- Monitor legal and regulatory updates affecting the company.
- Draft, review, and negotiate critical legal documents.
- Guide senior management on legal risks and transaction feasibility.
- Facilitate communication with shareholders, authorities, and stakeholders in Japanese and English.
- Establish document templates, maintain archives, and organize compliance systems.
- Provide training on compliance and manage dispute resolution and litigation.
- Support legal aspects of board and shareholder meetings.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in Japanese and English (spoken and written).
- Minimum of 3 years’ legal experience in renewable energy.
- Strong understanding of Japanese and international laws related to business and corporate governance.
- Skilled in drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of independent work.
