HVDC Project Engineer required for a major transmission system developer based in France
Responsibilities
- Assessment reports of Tenderers
- Technical studies for preparation of execution
- Lessons learnt and technical specification justification on modified/clarified requirements
- Periodic reporting toward lead project coordinator
- Review and work on the specification issued by Employer
- Perform internal technical or economical studies to assess Tenderers proposal and to challenge specifications
- Analyze and review the document provided by Tenderers in general
- Analyse deeply the document provided by Tenderers related to core business activities of AEP
- Participate in technical meeting with the HVDC converter manufacturers and in internal project and technical meetings
- Coordinate and discuss with technical experts on various topics: high-voltage equipment, low voltage equipment, HVDC C&P design, transient and harmonic studies, interfaces, IT, etc
- Ensure integration into existing AC Grid in compliance with the clients practice for: maintenance, operations, safety, reliability
- Defines and/or performs technical-economic studies to advise for technical arbitration
- Share the lessons learnt to other projects among the team
- Depending on the timeline of the Tender and of other executed projects, support to other power-electronic based assets could be expected
Requirements
- Experience in the conceptual design of HVDC converter stations ( >= 5 years)
- Good knowledge in high voltage engineering and design, including converter station specific equipment such as valve submodules, capacitors, reactors, transformers.
- Experience with design studies and their interfaces: insulation coordination, dynamic studies, harmonics, etc.
- Experience with auxiliary system linked to HVDC Converter Station (e.g.: HVA/C, cooling, etc.)
- Fluent in English and French
- Ability to identify technical issues in a technically complex environment
- Adaptability
