European Offshore Wind Technical Lead

Taylor Hopkinson is working with one of the world’s fastest growing renewable energy companies who are expanding their executive leadership team in Europe. As Offshore Wind Technical Lead, you will be responsible for defining the WTG portfolio roadmap and corresponding product features.

The role will be a key contributor in leading wind turbine technology development and ensuring the company continue to achieve their carbon neutral goals.

This is a full time, staff role based in Germany.

Role:

  • Investigate and understand global and regional market requirements including wind resource, government policy, technology development and competitor analysis.
  • Lead as chief system engineer for offshore wind WTG product development and the resolution of technical field issues.
  • Define the WTG product portfolio roadmap and corresponding product features based on market requirements.
  • Work together with project technical managers to analyze the project wind resource and customer requirements, defining WTG product solutions such as WTG models, additional features, layouts, site suitability and energy yield assessment.
  • Work with the wider sales, commercial and technical managers to define the bidding strategy.
  • Support wider commercial teams with pricing strategy.
  • Lead technical workshops and discussions with customers with regards to WTG.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, control engineering or similar subject.
  • Substantial experience working in the global offshore wind industry with experience in offshore WTG development and management.
  • Deep understanding of European offshore wind requirements, in particular customer technical due diligence, bidding and delivery processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of WTG systems and wind farm technical aspects is essential.
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to build and maintain cross-team relationships.
  • Well organized, proactive and able to successfully work in a fast paced and competitive environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, domestically and internationally, when required.
