CAD Technician

Taylor Hopkinson is looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join a big Renewable Energy Company (IPP) present in many European countries.

The company is a developer and investor of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, storage).

Their office is located in Bucharest, Romania

Role:

• Provide CAD design support for projects across the UK, Italy, Germany, Romania, and potentially other European countries.
• Assist the Development and Construction teams from early development stages through to construction, commissioning, and final as-built documentation.
• Define project site boundaries and conduct constraints mapping to identify feasible installation areas, considering technical, environmental, topographical, hydrological, geotechnical, and regulatory factors.
• Create preliminary and detailed project layouts using PVdesign, AutoCAD, or PVcase, and prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs).
• Produce technical drawings needed for project permit applications.
• Collaborate with the Project team to ensure designs meet all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Contribute to the development of Basic Design for EPC Requests for Proposals.
• Review and suggest improvements to design drawings from EPC Contractors or Technical Advisors to optimize designs.
• Manage CAD files and documentation, ensuring proper version control and accessibility for project teams.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of the team’s design guidelines, methodologies, systems, and tools.

Requirements:

• Over 4 years of experience in Solar PV.
• Demonstrated success with large-scale Solar PV projects in Europe, in roles such as Developer, IPP, Technical Advisor, or EPC Contractor.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or PVcase, with additional experience in PVdesign or other modeling software being advantageous.
• Skilled in constraints mapping.
• Experienced in creating layouts for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Proficient in GIS, using industry-standard software like ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
• Strong understanding of Solar PV plant design and components (modules, inverters, structures, trackers), with additional knowledge of Wind and BESS technologies being beneficial.
• Experience in designing layouts for BESS and/or Wind projects is a plus.
• Fluent in spoken and written English, with fluency in other European languages being a plus.
• Excellent skills in CAD software.
• Strong communication, reporting, and presentation abilities.
• Capable of meeting tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and managing workload effectively.
• Enjoys working both independently and as part of a dynamic, highly engaged team.
• Flexible, proactive, and eager to take responsibility and use initiative.
