Technician – HVDC Cable Installation Onshore

Technician – HVDC Cable Installation Onshore required for a major Offshore Wind Farm Developer based in Germany.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, and terminate various types of cables, including fiber optic, coaxial, and copper cables.
• Lay underground cables and install aerial cables on poles.
• Follow technical drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine the correct methods of installation.
• Prepare job sites by digging trenches, setting up necessary infrastructure, and ensuring all equipment is ready for installation.
• Restore job sites to their original condition after the installation, including backfilling trenches and repairing any disruptions.
• Operate specialized equipment such as trenchers, cable pulling machines, and hydraulic lifts.
• Perform regular maintenance checks on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Test installed cables for performance, continuity, and compliance with specifications using various testing tools.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on faulty cables or connections as needed.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations during installation and maintenance activities.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on project status, including completion dates and any deviations from plans.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to ensure seamless project execution.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on progress and resolve any concerns.
• Provide post-installation support to clients, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
• Offer technical advice and guidance to customers on the use and maintenance of the installed systems.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in cable installation.
• Participate in training sessions to improve skills and knowledge related to cable installation and civil works.
• Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and environmental guidelines.
• Obtain necessary permits and approvals for cable installation projects.

Requirements

• An education in telecommunications, civil and/or electrical engineering.
• Strong experience in pull-in operation and relative preparatory works.
• 3+ years’ experience in cable installation.
• 3+ years’ experience in civil works.
• Strong commitment to safety and HSE regulations.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
• EU working rights.
